I have over 30 years of experience in the Information Technology field, starting out as a Programmer Analyst and progressing into software systems design and project management for the citrus industry. The last 25 years of my career was spent in I.T. management as Director of Information Technology with the City of Leesburg, Florida. I studied Electrical Engineering at Kaskaskia College, Southern Illinois University and Cleveland Institute of Electronics. Electronics, communications and computer science are rapidly changing fields, requiring continual education and refreshers to remain relevant in the vocation. I furthered studies of Management Information Systems at Kensington College and later specialized in Programming, Systems Analysis and Design, and Information Management Systems at Data Processing Institute and Florida Technical College in Orlando. I completed studies at Florida State University and obtained Certified Public Manager and Certified Chief Information Officer certifications. I retired in 2013 and today spend much of my time as an avid boater and hold a USCG Master Captain Near Coastal 50 ton license with towing endorsement. I first became politically active with the advent of the Tea Party, participating in the Patricia Sullivan fund raising campaign. During this time, I was technically still an independent with no official party affiliation. Today I am a registered Republican and avid supporter of the conservative cause.
I was born in Germany and came to this country legally at age 16. I graduated High School here, then obtained a BA, MA, and PhD from the City University of New York. I paid my way by working in a clinical laboratory at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. We have a daughter, who is Director of Clinical Research at Merck Pharmaceuticals, and two grandchildren, one in first year College, the other in second year High School.
I am retired now and am trying to return some of the many blessings I have received from this country from it, especially, being able to follow my dream.
